At the end is a note about the author, a chronological table and a glossary. Harold Stannett Williams was an Australian who spent most of his adult life, pursuing a successful commercial career in Japan interrupted only by his Pacific war service. He was a prolific writer on Japan, specialising in the history of the foreign settlements.

With An Account how he was at last as strangely delivered by Pirates. Written by himself. The seventeenth edition, adorned with cuts. In two volumes. Title page to vol. Two Volumes, 17th edition, 12mo, 6. Both volumes bound in contemporary full calf with a red morocco labels on the spines, the two volumes are identical in size but the binding detail is not quite matching.
Joints cracked and extremities worn, particularly at the head and tail of the spines which are rubbed with some loss, internally clean with only accessional foxing and the title page and frontispiece of volume one has a small marginal damp stain but a good example in original condition. An attractive and delightfully illustrated edition, which is scarce. One of the plates depicts Crusoe travelling through the Great Wall of China.
